Configure Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac to UW email

  1. Open Outlook 2011.
  2. With Outlook open, click on Outlook in the top menu bar and then select Preferences…

  3. In the Outlook Preferences window, click Accounts in the Personal Settings section.

  4. In the Accounts window:
    1. If there is not an account configured, click Exchange Account.

    2. If there is an account already configured, click on the Add an account + sign at the bottom of the left column, and select Exchange…

  5. In the Enter your Exchange account information window, enter your University of Wyoming email address and verify Method is set to User Name and Password. Then enter your User name in the format and your domain password. Verify that Configure automatically is selected, and click Add Account.

  6. If you receive the "Outlook was redirected..." window, check the box next to "Always use my response for this server" and click Allow. You may have to do this more than once.

    1. Note: If you receive an error about automatic discovery failing, please verify that your email address was entered correctly. If it is correct and Outlook is still unable to automatically configure your email account, please contact the UW IT Helpdesk at 307 766 4357, Option 1.

  7. Verify that the information in the Accounts window is correct, and close the window. Outlook 2011 is now configured and will get your Exchange information.
