Adding UW Canon Secure Print Copiers to a Domain connected Windows PC or Non-Domain/Personal Windows PC

Instructions in this article include four possible ways to install the Canon copiers on Windows computers.

  1. Installing the Canon Copier Using Software Center

  2. Installing the Canon Copier Using Company Portal

  3. Installing the Canon Copier Using Command Prompt (use for non-domain joined computers)

Connecting to Canon Copiers on a Domain Computer

 

First Time Log In Instructions at the Copier

 

Installing the Canon Copier Using Software Center

  1. If you have an older computer (>2 years), you will need to to install the Canon Secure Print  software using Software Center.  For domain computers (where you sign in with your UW credentials), use Search on the bottom left of your screen to search for "Software Center".   If you don't see Software Center in your search results, proceed to Installing the Canon Copier Using Company Portal below.

 

  1. From the Software Center select -> Applications -> UW Canon Secure Print as shown below and then select Install. The printer (SecurePrint-2) will then be available to use.

 

NOTE:

If after logging in at the printer to print your jobs you are shown an error that says "Cannot log in because no Cost Center is available!", you will need to contact your primary office associate or account manager for your department and have them submit this form to Copier Services requesting access.


Installing the Canon Copiers Using Company Portal

 

  1. In Company Portal, click Apps in the left side of the window.
  2. Find and select UW Secure Canon Print icon from the list of apps.

 

  1. Click Install and wait for the installation fo complete.

  1. The printer (SecurePrint-2) will then be available to use. (If you do not see the UW Canon Secure Print option in the software center you can also install the Canon printer using the Command Prompt instructions for non-domain computers.

 


NOTE:

If after logging in at the printer to print your jobs you are shown an error that says "Cannot log in because no Cost Center is available!", you will need to contact your primary office associate or account manager for your department and have them submit this form to Copier Services requesting access.


 

Installing Canon Copiers on a Non-Domain Computer or Personal Windows PC using Command Prompt

 

  1. Verify that you are connected to the UW network either on the Wireless (UWYO), wired connection, or though the VPN Ivanti Secure.
  2.  Type in cmd in the Search field and click on Command Prompt
  3. Inside the Command Prompt type or cut/paste the following:

start \\print-rps-2\SecurePrint-2  

  1. Press enter
  2. When it first attempts to connect it will prompt you for your UW credentials. Type in uwyo\<your-username> and then your uw password. Make sure to use your actual UW username (username is case sensitive), Also do not use an alias such as first.lastname
  3. Select remember my credentials so you do not have to log in for any future print jobs.

 

  1. The driver and printer will then be installed and available to use as (SecurePrint-2)

If you are unable to add the printer using Command Prompt, next try adding it manually from the Printers & Scanners interface.

Installing the Canon Copier Manually from Printers & Scanners Interface

  1. Search for Printer & scanners.

 

  1. Click add device.

 

  1. Click Add manually next to the printer I want isn’t listed at the bottom of the list.

 

  1. Select a shared printer by name and input the name:  \\print-rps-2\SecurePrint-2

 

  1. Click Next and it starts to add the printer.
  2. Click Next and it shows the name of the printer.

 

  1. Click Next and it says you’ve successfully added the printer.

 

  1. Click Finish.
