Subscribe/Unsubscribe to a Mailman Email Distribution List

Procedures

  1. Find a list's Information Page

    All advertised lists have an information page that is a link on the Mailing List Overview page.

    Mailing list pages can be reached directly.  If the list you want to find is unadvertised, it will not be displayed on the Overview pages, but can be reached by replacing [list-name] in the link below with the name of the list whose page you want to find:

    https://lists.uwyo.edu/mailman/admin/[list-name]

  2. Subscribe to a list
     
    1. Visit the list's information page at https://lists.uwyo.edu/mailman/listinfo/[list-name], replacing [list-name] with the name of the list.
    2. Under the Subscribing to [list-name] section, enter your information
    3. Click Subscribe
       
  3. Unsubscribe from a list
     
    1. Visit the list's information page at https://lists.uwyo.edu/mailman/listinfo/[list-name], replacing [list-name] with the name of the list.
    2. Under the [list-nameSubscribers section, enter your email address in the bottom most field.
    3. Click Unsubscribe or edit options
    4. This brings you to a new page. In the Unsubscribing from [list-name] section click the checkbox next to Yes, I really want to unsubscribe, and then click Unsubscribe.
    5. In some cases you will instead be directed to a different new page with an Unsubscribe section. Click Unsubscribe.
  4. To find out which lists you are subscribed to:
    1. Visit the list's information page at https://lists.uwyo.edu/mailman/listinfo/[list-name], replacing [list-name] with the name of the list you are subscribed to.
    2. Under the [list-name] Subscribers section, enter your email in the bottom most field
    3. This brings you to a new page. Under the Your other uwyo.edu subscriptions section, click List my other subscriptions.
       
  5. Email Commands

    While we strongly recommend using the list's information web pages, some users prefer email commands to subscribe and unsubscribe. The exact behavior of these commands will vary depending on the permissions of the list. If the list has a closed subscription these requests will go to the list owner for approval, but otherwise the user will simply be added/removed as a list member.

     
    1. To subscribe to a list by email:
      Please send an email to [list-name]-subscribe@uwyo.edu, replacing [list-name] with the name of the list.

       
    2. To unsubscribe from a list by email:
      Please send an email to [list-name]-unsubscribe@uwyo.edu, replacing [list-name] with the name of the list.

 

 

Common Lists

  • Faculty Listserv
    • To SUBSCRIBE to the list:
      • Address the e-mail to: uw-faculty-subscribe@uwyo.edu
      • Leave the rest of the message blank, with no signature file.
      • Send the email.
      • You will receive a confirmation request to which you simply hit "reply" and "send."
    • To UNSUBSCRIBE from the list:
      • Address the e-mail to: uw-faculty-unsubscribe@uwyo.edu
      • Leave the rest of the message blank, with no signature file. 
      • Send the email. 
  • Staff Listserv
    • To SUBSCRIBE to the list:
      • Address the e-mail to: uwstaff-l-subscribe@uwyo.edu
      • Leave the rest of the message blank, with no signature file.
      • Send the email.
      • You will receive a confirmation request to which you simply hit "reply" and "send."
    • To UNSUBSCRIBE from the list:
      • Address the e-mail to: uwstaff-l-unsubscribe@uwyo.edu
      • Leave the rest of the message blank, with no signature file. 
      • Send the email.
