This is a great deal for departments to upgrade outdated PCs. The 2019 Desktop Replacement Initiative only has 100 desktops available, so act fast to not miss out on this opportunity.
The cost to departments is $175 for each computer that is replaced under this program. Information Technology is sponsoring the rest of the cost. Each replacement computer will be a USED Dell Optiplex 7040 Small Form Factors with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz processor, 16 GB of RAM, 500 GB Solid State hard drive.
All computers include a mouse, keyboard and 24” flat Panel LCD monitor. The computers will be configured with Windows 10-64bit and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 preinstalled.
IT will be accepting requests for computers to be considered for this program from now until June 14th. After June 14th no more requests will be accepted and customers will be notified of the status of their request.
Information Technology uses an initiative to replace eligible, outdated computers on campus. Under this initiative, Information Technology provides departments with used computers that are cycled out of the student computer labs in exchange for their outdated desktop computers. The student lab computers are usually significantly newer than the computers that are replaced. We have again allocated funding to assist in the replacement of outdated computers in UW departments.
