Near or Over Email Storage Quota

University of Wyoming email accounts for current employees and students are set at 99GB.  Other accounts, such as those assigned to board retirees or emeritus faculty, are typically set to 49GB.  E-mail messages, attachments, calendar items, notes, contacts and other mail components count towards the quota.

When accounts approach their quota limits, account holders may receive a warning e-mail alerting them to the mailbox usage.

  1. When your mailbox reaches 90% of your email storage limit, you will receive a message stating "Your mailbox is 90% full. After your mailbox reaches its full capacity, you won't be able to send or receive messages."  However, as long as your account remains under quota, your email will continue to function correctly at this time.
  2. When your mailbox has reached your email storage limit, you will receive a message stating your account is prohibited from sending email messages. Your account will continue to receive emails during this time.
  3. When your mailbox exceeds your email storage limit by over 1GB (that is, the mailbox reaches the 100GB or 50GB limit), you will receive the message, "Your mailbox is 100% full.  You can no longer send or receive messages." You will be unable to send or receive email until you have brought your email usage back under the storage limit.
