Introduction
Information Technology provides SPSS to UW departments for installation on UW owned computers for academic teaching and research use only.
SPSS includes the following:
- SPSS Base
- Advanced Statistics
- Regression
- Customer Tables

Procedure
If you would like to request SPSS, please click "Request Software," and place an order for SPSS. If you are accessing this from off campus, you will need to be connected to WyoSecure to place an order. Granting access to this software is a manual process, so it will not happen instantly.
Cost
IT covers a significant part of the SPSS cost, but departments are billed for part of each SPSS license per device on a pro-rated basis through the year. Departments should plan on an estimated 10 – 15% increase per year thereafter. Information Technology and the Central Student Technology Committee will continue to pay for a portion of the SPSS subscription for use in the UWStudent Computer Labs.

There are various ways to license IBM SPSS Statistics for institutional administrative use (use that is not directly related to teaching or research). Depending on the analysis that an individual is doing the one-time cost can be anywhere from about $3,500 - $7,500 with the recurring annual costs for maintenance being between $700 - $1,500. This license type would not expire each year. Please email us at itsoftw@uwyo.edu if you need an SPSS license for administrative purposes.
If SPSS needs to be used on a personally owned computer, it can be purchased for about $250 per year here.
