Installation Blocked on Mac

Introduction

When installing applications from unidentified vendors and downloaded from places other than the Mac App Store you can be blocked by your Mac’s security settings and kept from installing.  In most cases this is a good security feature but in the cases where you need to install the software that is being blocked you will need to follow these instructions for changing your security settings.

Procedure

  1. Go to the apple icon at the top right of your screen and select System Preferences.

  1. In the System Preferences window that pops up locate and click on Security & Privacy.

  1. At the Security & Privacy window you’ll have to unlock to make changes by clicking on the lock icon at the bottom left of the window.  You will be prompted to put in the password associated with your Mac.
