Introduction
The University of Wyoming offers an email distribution list hosting and management package called Mailman. Mailman offers a robust feature set and convenient web interface to manage lists.
There are two types of passwords to mailing lists.
The first type is if you are a member of a list and want to log in and change your user settings, such as managing your subscriptions or changing how you receive mailing list messages. This password can be reset with the steps below.
- Visit the list's information page at https://lists.uwyo.edu/mailman/listinfo/[list-name], replacing [list-name] with the name of the list.
- Under the [list-name] Subscribers Section, enter your email in the bottom most field
- Click Unsubscribe or edit options
- This brings you to a new page. In the Your [list-name] Password section click Email my password to me.
- In some cases you will be directed to a different new page with a Password Reminder section. Click Remind
The second type is the administrator password, which allows list admins to edit membership, change monitoring settings, and several other functions. If you have forgotten the password and need that password reset, please click the button and fill out the request form.
If you know your password but want to change the admin or moderator password, you can change those by going to the passwords categories inside your list and then there will be two boxes one for administrator password and one for moderator password. Fill out the one you desire to change and then click on submit changes on the bottom of the screen.
