Summary of the Data Breach incident response plan
If you suspect that your account which includes personal or university data have been compromised, please report the incident to UW IT as soon as possible.
All suspected incidents must be reported to the Response Team as soon as discovered. Individuals will follow the UWIT Incident Response procedures to report and assist in the response.
The SIRT (Security Incident Response Team) will investigate the incident and assist the compromised individual or department in limiting the exposure of potentially breached data.
The SIRT will resolve the problem including business recovery and continuity and data backup steps as needed as well as, reporting the incident and findings and notifying the appropriate parties as necessary.
The SIRT will determine if policies and processes need to be updated to avoid a similar incident in the future.
