Find The Name Of Your Computer (Windows & Mac)

Section One

The first section of this guide is a quick reference for those who only need a reminder of where to look. The second section of the guide provides more detailed information and includes screenshots.

Find your computer name in Windows 10

1. Open the Control Panel.

2. Click System and Security > System.

3. On the View basic information about your computer page, see the Full computer name under the section Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings.

Find your computer name in Windows 11

1. Open Settings.

2. Go to System.

3. The computer name will be listed at the top of the system settings page.

Find your computer name on a Mac

1. Choose Apple menu > System Settings > General

2. Click About.  The computer name appears at the top of the window.

Section Two: Detailed Instructions

Microsoft Windows 10

1. Location the Start button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen and click it.

2. Once the Start Menu appears, as shown below, simply begin typing the word "Name".

3. Click on View your PC name when it comes up and on the About screen that comes up you will see your device name.

 

Microsoft Windows 11

1. Location the Start button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen and click it.

2. Open Settings and click on System.

3. The computer name will be listed at the top of System screen right below About

 

Mac OS Ventura

1. Click on the Apple Menu. and select System Settings.

2. Click General and the name will be listed on that screen.
