Introduction
The University of Wyoming's Secure Print system can be set up on an iPad using the Canon PRINT app. Please note that this app may not have all the features you would find when printing from a computer, and you may encounter formatting issues when printing certain types of files. These steps have been tested on iPadOS versions 17 and 18. If you encounter any issues, please contact the UWIT Help Desk at 307-766-4357, Option 1.

How To Print From Your iPad
The Document Print button inside the Canon PRINT app works great for printing PDF files, but we encountered formatting issues when attempting to print Word documents. These issues can be avoided by printing the document for inside the Word app. Please follow the instructions below. These steps will be similar for printing from other applications.
-
In the Word app, open the document you would like to print. Then tap the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner.
-
Select Print, then Open in Another App.
-
A list of apps will appear, scroll all the way to the right and select More.
-
Scroll down and select the Canon PRINT app. (You can add the Canon PRINT app as a favorite by selecting the Edit button in the top right of the windows, tap the green plus next to the Canon PRINT app, then tap Done. This will make it easier to find in the future.)
-
The Canon PRINT app will open and ask if you want to use the following printer. If this is the printer you want to use, tap yes.
-
The app will show a preview of your document, tap Next.
- Here you can change how you want the document to be printed by taping the arrow on the right side of the screen. Do not change the Output method or Authentication Mode. After selecting the options you want, click Print.
-
After the “Printing” window reaches 100% and closes, hit the back button in the top left corner to return to the Home tab. You can now go to the printer, scan your ID, and print your document.
