Install SPSS 28 for Windows from the UW Network

NOTE: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user. Uninstall any existing SPSS version before proceeding. Recommended requirements for 32 bit SPSS are 4 GB of memory, 8gb of memory for 64 bit, 1.1 GB of hard drive space, and internet access for activation. 

NOTE: These instructions apply to both the 32 and 64 bit versions of SPSS 28 for Windows. 

Introduction 

Information Technology provides SPSS for a yearly fee for academic teaching and research use only.  For current pricing please see the service page below. There is no requirement for the computer to be connected to the network for the software to run, however it will need to be connected during the installation. To install SPSS from the UW network, an order of SPSS must be submitted to IT here: https://uwyo.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=9585 

Procedure 

  1. If you are off campus at the time of installation, you need to start by connecting to the UW network with Ivanti Secure.

  2. Open the Start Menu, and enter in: 

\\uwapps.uwyo.edu\spss28$\Windows\  for 64 bit Windows 

\\uwapps.uwyo.edu\spss28$\Windows\ for 32 bit Windows 

and hit Enter. Make sure that you have typed the correct slashes (i.e. \ and not /). This example is for the 64 bit version. NOTE: You must be an administrator of the computer to complete this installation.           

 

              

  1. Double click on the exe file.  You may be asked to run the file. If so, please click Run

  1. Click Next on the Introduction window. 

 

  1. Make sure you read the Software License Agreement and the select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next

  1. On the Destination Folder screen, click Next.

 

  1. On the Ready to Install the Program screen, click Install.

  1. Once the program finishes the install, make sure the Start SPSS Statistics 27 License Authorization Wizard now option is checked and then click Finish

 

  1. On the Activate IBM SPSS Statistics screen, click Launch License Wizard.

  1. On the License Status screen, click Next

  1. Make sure to select Authorized User License and then click Next

 

  1. When you submitted a request to IT for SPSS software, a license code should have been emailed to you with the confirmation. Enter it in carefully, click Add, and then click Next

 

  1. If you see the green “Authorization Succeeded” your software will now be license and you can click Next

  1. On the Licensing Completed window, click Finish
