Install ERDAS 2018 from the UW Network

Note:  Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user.

Introduction

The University of Wyoming provides the ERDAS 2018 Foundation and Imagine software package free of charge for installation on UW owned computers for academic teaching and research use only.  In order to install and run the software the computer must be connected to the UW Network. 

To install ERDAS 2018 from the UW network, request access through the IT Help Desk at userhelp@uwyo.edu or 766-4357, option 1. 

Note: Granting software access is a manual process that is done during normal business hours. Once eligibility has been confirmed you will receive an email informing you that access has been granted. 

Procedure

Older version of ERDAS used to be a two part install.  However, ERDAS 2018 has simplified that process by putting both installs into a single package. 

Installing ERDAS 2018

1. Go to the Start button and in the search bar type:  \\uwapps\ERDAS-2018$\setup.exe and press Enter.

*If prompted by User Account Control click Yes*

2. On the Hexagon Geospatial Setup Manager click the + next to ERDAS IMAGINE 2018. Click ERDAS IMAGINE 2018 (64-Bit) and click Install.

3. On the Open File – Security Warning window click Run.

4. On the ERDAS IMAGINE 2018 – InstallShield Wizard click Install.

5. On the ERDAS IMAGINE 2018 window click Next.

6. On the END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT window, review the License Agreement and, if you agree, click I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.

7. On the Custom Setup window click Next.

8. On the Ready to Install window click Install.

9. On the ERDAS IMAGINE 2018 Installer Information window, please note that the system will need to restart then click OK.

10. On the InstallShield Wizard Complete window click Finish.

11. On the ERDAS IMAGINE 2018 Installer Information window, please either restart the computer or choose to do so later.

12. The installer will now run a few configuration tasks.

13. At the ERDAS File Association Manager click the box next to File Associations, click Apply then click Close.

14. Go to the Start Button and in the search type Geospatial Licensing Administrator 2018 and press Enter.

*If prompted by User Account Control click Yes*

15. On the Hexagon Geospatial License Administration window, select View and then Add Concurrent License Source…

16. For the Computer name enter: uwerdaslicense.uwyo.edu and for the port enter: 27006. Once you have those entered, click OK.

17. Close the Hexagon Geospatial License Administrator and Hexagon Geospatial Setup Manager windows. You should now be able to run search ERDAS IMAGINE 2018 and run the program.
