Install Minitab 18 from the UW Network

NOTE: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user.

Information Technology provides the statistical package Minitab for a yearly fee for faculty and staff use on university owned computers. Contact IT Software services at 766-4375, option 1, for pricing and ordering information.

The license server the product connects to is currently only accessible to computers on campus and inside the UW firewall. The computer must have a constant network connection in order to launch and run Minitab.

Before starting this procedure, it is recommended that all open documents be saved and any open applications be closed.

1. Accessing the network installation point for Minitab 18.
    
   1. Click the Start menu button, and click in the Search program and file box.
       
   2. In the Search program and files box (or the Run window), type \\uwapps.uwyo.edu\minitab18$ and press Enter. 
      NOTE: Make sure that you have typed the correct slashes (i.e. \ and not /).
      

3. Double click on SetupMinitab18.exe.
   

4. If you get a Security Warning window, click Yes.
   

5. On the Minitab 18 Setup window, click OK.

6. On the Welcome to Minitab 18 Setup window, click Next.
   

7. On the End-User License Agreement window, check the box next to “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” and click Next.
   

 

8. On the Choose the appropriate license type window, select Multi-user license with a license server or file.

 

1. On the Configure a multi-user license window, enter the License Server and port information that was provided to you when the license was purchased. Click Next.
   

 

10. On the Destination folder window, click Next.

 

11. On the Ready to install Minitab 18 window, click Install.
    

 

12. In the Completed Minitab 18 Setup window, click Finish.
