Logging to a Newly Imaged Computer On Campus

With a computer that has recently been imaged and joined to the UW domain, please login to the laptop with your UW username and password while on the UW network within 90 days. After 90 days, if you still haven’t logged into a UW network environment, your computer account will drop off from the UW domain and you will need to contact the Help Desk to request that the computer be put back on the domain.

When you first boot up the computer, there will be a Wi-Fi icon on the right side of your screen. Click the Wi-Fi icon and select UWyo Wi-Fi name, and then login with your UW username and password.

If you have any difficulty logging into Wi-Fi, please use a hard-wired network cable for the connection to the UW network environment. Some newer model laptops may not have a network port, if so, you will need a USB to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. After you get in with a wired connection, make sure to set up the wireless connection using your UW account. You only need to use the hard-wired network connection for the first login.

Please let us know ahead of time if the computer will be used somewhere other than the UW campus. There is a local admin username on the computer and we will share that information with you separately.  When logging into the local account, please add  .\  in front of your local username.

For Windows surface products, please be aware that Microsoft Office 365 is already pre-installed. You can use your UW account to activate the license.

If you have any question please call UW IT Help Desk at 307-766-4357, option 1, or email userhelp@uwyo.edu.
