Setting up Amira/Avizo on Windows 11 (Standard)

  1. Download the Amira/Avizio installer using this link.

  1. Run the installer.

By default, your computer should put the file in your downloads folder. It should look like the file highlighted. You will need to double click on the file to run the installer. This can take awhile to open depending on your computer, so after double clicking give it some time to open. 

  1. When you get this popup, you will want to sign in and click yes, or just click yes depending on your system.

  1. After you allow the application to run, you will get the installer prompting you to click next. Click Next.

  1. Accept the license agreement and click Next.

  1. Click Next again.

  1. Select where you want to install the program. Normally the default they give you works but make sure the drive you’re installing the program on has enough space. Click Next.

  1. Click Next.

  1. Select the “Amira 3D” & “Avizo 3D” checkboxes, then click Next.

  1. Click Next.

  1. You can add desktop shortcuts if you want them but they aren’t required. After making your selection, click Next.

  1. Click Next.

  1. Wait for the installation process to be completed. Note that this will take some time.

  1. After the first part of the installation is completed, you will get this screen. Click I Agree.

  1. Select the destination folder and click Install.

  1. Wait for the License Manager to install.

  1. After the installation has been completed, click Finish.

  1. Click Allow. Depending on your system, you may have to login again or click Yes.

  1. Click the blue X for now.

  1. Click Install. If you don’t see this page, skip to step 26.

  1. Check the “I agree to the license terms and conditions” checkbox and then click Install.

  1. You may need to login and click yes or just click Yes.

  1. Wait for the installation to complete.

  1. Make sure you have everything you need saved on your computer, then click Restart.
  2. Wait for your system to restart.
  3. Launch the Thermo Scientific License Manager.

  1. If you had to install the C++ Redistributable, click the blue X again.
  2. Click Activate license(s).

  1. Next, click License Server

  1. Under license server, there will be a textbox and you’ll need to type in: thermofisher.uwyo.edu:27007

  1. Click Save.

  1. You should see this now. You can close the License manager.

  1. Open Amira 3D.

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the agreement and click “I accept the license” then OK.

You should be able to run Amira 3D and Avizo 3D now.
