Installing Active Directory Users and Computers in Windows 11

This article will guide you through installing Active Directory Users and Computers on a Windows 11 machine. This tool, part of the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT), is essential for managing Active Directory services.

 

Prerequisites

  1. You must have administrative privileges on your Windows 11 computer.

 

Steps to Install Active Directory Users and Computers

Step 1: Open the Settings App

  1. Press the Windows key or click on the Start Menu icon on the taskbar.

  2. In the search bar, type "Settings" and select the Settings app.

 

 

 

Step 2: Navigate to Optional Features

  1. In the Settings window, select System from the left sidebar.

  2. Scroll down and click on Optional features.

 

 

Step 3: Add an Optional Feature

  1. Click on the Add an optional feature button at the top of the Optional features page.

 

 

Step 4: Search for RSAT Tools

  1. In the optional feature>view features window, use the search bar to type "RSAT".

  2. Look for RSAT: Active Directory Domain Services and Lightweight Directory Services Tools.

 

 

Step 5: Select and Install RSAT: Active Directory Tools

  1. Check the box next to RSAT: Active Directory Domain Services and Lightweight Directory Services Tools.

  2. Click on the Next button to proceed.

Step 6: Complete the Installation

  1. After clicking Next, the system will take a few moments to install the selected feature.

  2. Once completed, return to the Optional features page to verify the installation.

 

 

Step 7: Access Active Directory Users and Computers

  1. Open the Start Menu and type "Active Directory Users and Computers".

  2. Select it from the search results to launch the tool.

 

 

 

Installation is now complete, and Active Directory Users and Computers is ready to use. 

 

Step 9: Create a Desktop Shortcut (Optional)

  1. If you want quicker access, go to Windows Tools by opening the Start menu, searching for "Active Directory Users and Computers," and selecting Open file location.

  2. Right-click on Active Directory Users and Computers and select Create shortcut.
