Connect IoT device to UWresnet-iot wireless network

The UWresnet-iot wireless network is a network designed to allow devices that do not support enterprise wireless authentication to connect in the dorms and apartments. Devices that support enterprise authentication should connect to eduroam or UWyo wireless networks.

Step 1:

Log into the device registration portal at: https://deviceregistration.uwyo.edu/guest/auth_login.php with your UWYO domain credentials. The registration page is only available from on campus physically (not an Ivanti connection).

Step 2:

In order to register a device you will need to obtain the wireless mac address for your device. If you are not sure how to get the mac address of your device, you can try to google "wireless mac address <device model>" for example, "wireless mac address nintendo switch". If you are unable to locate the mac address you can contact the help desk for support.

Please note that if your device supports MAC randomization you will either need to register the random MAC address, or disable this functionality for the UWresnet-iot network.

Step 3:

Once you have the mac address you will need to fill out the device registration form:

Step 4:

Once the device has been successfully registered you will be presented with a confirmation page that shows the pre-shared key that the device will use to connect to UWresnet-iot. You will also receive an e-mail confirmation with a copy of the pre-shared key for your records.

Step 5:

Connect your device to the UWresnet-iot wireless network using the Wi-Fi password presented in the confirmation page or your UW e-mail.
