Wait before installing macOS Big Sur
Apple released a new version of the operating system, macOS Big Sur, on November 12, 2020.
UWIT recommends that you do not upgrade to this new version until Apple and application developers have had time to address bugs that often accompany major new macOS versions.
This update has caused some older MacBook Pros to get stuck on black screens on installation with little recourse offered by Apple at this time. The issue seems to be most common on late-2013 and mid-2014 models of the 13 inch MacBook Pro, but other Macs have been reportedly affected.
