Setting up Ivanti Secure on Mac Computers

Introduction

The Ivanti VPN, also known as WyoSecure, is a Virtual Private Network that allows remote connection to the UWYO network. The Ivanti VPN is necessary for accessing warehouse drives, remote desktop, and other secure applications from off campus. This article covers installation and use of the Ivanti VPN on MacOS. Installation

  1. Visit the Ivanti download page by clicking this link: https://www.uwyo.edu/infotech/services/software/vpn/default.asp
  2. Click on the Macintosh client to start the download.

  1. If you are using the Safari browser, Click Allow to allow downloads from uwyo.edu.

  1. Open your downloads and double click the ps-pulse-mac-<version>-installer.dmg file you just downloaded.

  1. A window will open, double click the PulseSecure.pkg to open the installer.

  1. Click Continue.

  1. Click Install
  2. Click Use Password, then enter your computer password. If you've set up Touch ID, you can use that instead of your computer password.

  1. After the installation completes, click Close, then Move to Trash.

  1. Click the orange Ivanti icon near the top right corner of the screen, then select Open Ivanti Secure Access Client from the drop down menu.

  1. In the Action Required window, click Enable.

  1. A settings Window will open, under the header Allow in the Background,  look for Ivanti Secure Access and click the toggle icon to enable.
  2. Click Use Password, then enter your computer password. The toggle should turn blue, indicating it is enabled.

  1. Close the settings window.
  2. In the Ivanti window, click Add a new Connection.

  1. Enter the following information in the Add Connection menu:

Type: Policy Secure (UAC) or Connect Secure (VPN)

Name: WyoSecure

Server URL: https://wyosecure.uwyo.edu

  1. Click Add, then close the Ivanti window.

 

Connecting to the Ivanti VPN (WyoSecure)

  1. Click the orange Ivanti icon near the top right corner of your screen.

  1. Hover your mouse over WyoSecure, then click Connect.

  1. A WyoLogin window will open, enter your university username and password and click Logon
  2. A Duo Mobile window will then open, enter the 6 digit code from the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone.
  3. After completing Duo authentication, the sign in window will automatically close. After a few seconds, the orange Ivanti icon at the top of the screen should show a green corner, this indicates the connection was successful and the VPN is active.
