Problems connecting WIFI to UWYO or Eduroam on iOS 14

UW IT has found that devices running iOS 14.xx experience inconsistant wifi connection issues.  There is nothing in the 14.1 release notes that indicate that the issue is solved in this release.  iOS 14 devices do seem to connect if you toggle private addressing on or off depending on what it’s set to currently.  To do so, you’ll need to completely disconnect from wireless when you toggle that change, then reconnect.

  1. On your iPhone, open the Settings app
  2. Tap Wi-Fi
  3. Tap the blue “i” next to a network (one you’re already connected to or not)
  4. Tap the toggle next to Private Address to mask or unmask your iPhone or iPad’s Wi-Fi MAC address
  5. If you’re switching this on while already connected to a network, tap Disconnect to finish the process (you’ll automatically reconnect to the Wi-Fi network in a moment)

Some devices may successfully connect if users reset network settings however that clears off all your saved credentials, certs, and resets all dhcp and static IP's, cellular settings, and VPN settings as well as DNS settings, therefore this is not a recommend resolution unless private address toggling does not correct the issue.  *To reset network settings, go to Settings > GeneralReset > Reset Network Settings.
