Adding & Managing 2FA Devices

Introduction 

For this procedure the specific screens and options may vary by

  • Device, Browser, Previous Account Configurations  

If you are unable to complete the instructions, please call the UWIT Help Desk at 307-766-4357, option 1.

 

This procedure Requires Two-Factor Authentication (Duo Mobile or Yubikey) to update the Two Factor Account. 

  • If there is NO Device is NOT Connected to Two Factor: Please submit a request that includes you UW Username and type of connection needed (Yubikey or Duo Mobile) to userhelp@uwyo.edu 

    • If Yubikey: Include what type you will need (C-type or A-type)

      • Please note, you will need to be an active faculty/staff or student for this option 

    • If Duo Mobile: Include phone number and type of device (iPhone or Android) 

  • If there is a Device is Connected to Two Factor: Please proceed to the instructions below 

 

It is strongly recommended that you enroll more than one device, if you are an active staff/faculty and student, a YubiKey is a good option.   

  • Benefits: If primary device becomes unavailable, you will have a backup device to still access Two Factor Authentication 

 

It's recommended to complete the instructions through a private browser on a computer with Two Factor Device (Duo Mobile or YubiKey) on hand

Accessing Private Browser  

FireFox (Highly Recommended):

Google Chrome:

Microsoft Edge: 

Image displays the Microsoft Edge Browser. The first red box and arrow is directing the user to select the "More Options" Icon on the upper right had corner. Then select the option "New InPrivate Window".

Safari:

Image displays the Safari Browser. The first red box and arrow is directing the user to select the "File" option on the upper toolbar of Mac Device. Then select the option "New Private Window".

 

Enrolling Additional Devices and Managing 2FA Devices 

Step 1: In the private browser, navigate to WyoWeb then select the "Email" icon option

Step 2: On the WyoLogin Page, enter you UW username and password then select "Logon

Step 3: Once prompted with Two Factor Authentication Page, please select "Other options

Step 4: Navigate and select the "Manage devices" option

Step 5: Identity Verification Needed. Please select the appropriate option to verify yourself 

  • Note: List of options will vary depending on current set-up

Step 6: Once verified, navigate to and select the "Add a device" option

Step 7: If adding a Yubikey, select the "security key" option and follow steps as prompted

Step 8: If adding a Device, select the "Duo Mobile" option and follow steps as prompted 

  • What Devices can be added: Another phone number, tablet, or iPad

  • If Tablet or iPad (no phone number attached): On next screen, set up will prompt an option "I have a tablet", ensure you are selecting this option 

 

To ensure everything is properly set-up, when prompted to, please scan the QR code. This will ensure application is fully activated for the new device.
