Selecting a version of Oracle to Install
Usually the Oracle client is installed as a software dependency or as part of the platform compatible with some other software package/application that uses it for database connectivity and the primary concern when choosing a version is compatibility with the software it's supporting. Check on compatibility and dependency requirements for the supported software before selecting your version.

If there are no software dependencies:
If the software using the Oracle Client does not specify a version number or release in compatibility and/or dependency documentation, it's typically recommended to select the more stable version.
    • Oracle Client 19c is a long term release that is more stable and has an extended support lifecycle.
    • Oracle Client 21c is an innovation release, and it offers early access to some new features, but is on a shorter support lifecycle.
If the Oracle client is being installed for the user to connect directly to a database, you can install based upon the needs and requirements of the user and their OS/environment.
