New Unified Communications Voice Mail System coming to The University of Wyoming

We are pleased to announce a new Unified Communications System will soon go live at The University of Wyoming. It will replace our old voicemail system and continue to provide integration with Office 365. You will receive voicemail messages in your Outlook inbox. Any actions you take on messages via phone, Outlook, or your mobile email client will be synchronized. Please follow these simple steps to setup your voice mailbox on the new system.

You must setup your new mailbox before the system will accept voice mail into your mailbox.

  1. From your desk phone, call 6-1013.

If you are away from your desk call 307-766-1013, then dial # followed by your 10-digit extension.

  1. Dial 269269 when prompted for your security code. Do not dial pound (#) after the security code.
  2. Follow the prompts to set a new security code, record your name, and record your greeting.
  3. Your mailbox is initialized once you hear “Congratulations!”

Sample personal greeting:

Hello, this is (name). I’m sorry I cannot take your call right now. Please leave a detailed message with your name and telephone number, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

When will the new UC Voice Mail system go live?

The new system will be available when you start your day on September 12th, 2018. Our scheduled go-live is the evening of September 11th, 2018.

How much time do I have to setup my new mailbox?

You should setup your mailbox before September 12th, 2018. This will ensure callers hear your customized personal greeting, and your new voice mailbox is secured with a security code that only you know.

What are the security code requirements?

Your security code must be at least 6 digits long. The digits may not form a simple arithmetic sequence (123456, etc.). The security code must contain at least 3 unique digits, the complete mailbox number may not be part of the security code. You should avoid using simple patterns or easily guessed number such as a birthday.

I hung up before I heard “Congratulations” and now I cannot sign on with the default security code. What should I do?

Call 6-1013 from your desk phone or 307-766-1013 from off campus again and sign on with the new security code you provided during your previous attempt. The new security code takes effect as soon as it is confirmed. You will be prompted to change your security code again, and complete the rest of the mailbox setup process. 

Why don’t callers hear my new greeting? I recorded a new greeting but callers still hear my old greeting.

The new system is not in production yet. Callers will hear your existing greeting until the new system goes live on September 12th, 2018.

How do I sign on with my new security code? I completed mailbox setup but I cannot log on with my new security code when I press the voicemail button on my phone.

The voicemail button on your phone takes you to the existing voicemail system. You should log in with your existing security code. After go-live on September 12th, 2018the voicemail button will take you to the new voicemail system, and you will then be able to log in with your new security code.

What will happen to my messages on the old system?

Your old messages will only be accessible in your mailbox and no longer accessible via phone effective August 16th.
