Install SPSS 25 for Windows from the UW Network

NOTE: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user. Uninstall any existing SPSS version before proceeding. Recommended requirements for 32 bit SPSS are 4 GB of memory, 8gb of memory for 64 bit, 1.1 GB of hard drive space, and internet access for activation.

NOTE: These instructions apply to both the 32 and 64 bit versions of SPSS 25 for Windows.

Introduction

Information Technology provides SPSS for a yearly fee on UW owned computers for academic teaching and research use only.  For current pricing please see the service page below. There is no requirement for the computer to be connected to the network for the software to run, however if an individual wants to install SPSS from the network, it will need to be connected during the installation. To install SPSS from the UW network, a request for access must be submitted to IT here: https://uwyo.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=9585

Procedure

  1. Open the Start Menu, and enter in:

\\uwapps.uwyo.edu\spss25$\Windows\SPSSStatistics\win64\IBM SPSS Statistics 25.msi for 64 bit Windows

\\uwapps.uwyo.edu\spss25$\Windows\SPSSStatistics\win32\IBM SPSS Statistics 25.msi for 32 bit Windows

and hit Enter. Make sure that you have typed the correct slashes (i.e. \ and not /). This example is for the 64 bit version. NOTE: You must be an administrator of the computer to complete this installation.

                       

  1. You may be asked to run the file. If so, please click Run.

  1. Click Next on the Introduction window.

  1. Make sure you read the Software License Agreement and the select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

  1. Select Yes for the option to install Essentials for Python components and then click on Next.

  1. Make sure you read the Python License Agreement and the select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

  1. Make sure you read the Software License Agreement and the select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

  1. Click Next on the Destination Folder window.

  1. Click Install on the Ready to Install the Program window.

  1. Once the program finishes the install, make sure the Start SPSS Statistics 25 License Authorization Wizard now option is Checked and then click Finish.

  1. Note: If the License Authorization Wizard does not automatically open you can still find the program in the Start Menu. The License Authorization Wizard will open and inform you that there are No licenses found. Click Next.

  1. Make sure to select Authorized User License and then click Next.

  1. When you submitted a request to IT for SPSS software, a license code should have been emailed to you with the confirmation. Enter it in carefully and then click Next.

  1. If you see the green “Authorization Succeeded” your software will now be license and you can click Next.

  1. On the Licensing Completed window, click Finish.
