Adjust How Java Cache Files are Handled in the UWSTUDENT Labs

Summary

In the UWSTUDENT labs, some students may experience problems with Java cache files causing them to go over quota on their personal H: drive storage. Unfortunately, the program does not allow Information Technology to correct this problem automatically. However, students can now adjust how their Java cache files are handled to help prevent this problem.

Introduction

In the UWSTUDENT labs, some students may experience problems with Java cache files causing them to go over quota on their personal H: drive storage. Unfortunately, the program does not allow Information Technology to correct this problem automatically. However, students can now adjust how their Java cache files are handled to help prevent this problem.

These instructions are intended for users with a UW domain account on UWSTUDENT lab computers only.

Procedure

  1. Click the Start menu button, and click Control Panel ( or point to Settings, and click Control Panel)
     
  2. In the Control Panel, select Other Control Panel Options on the left-hand side of the window.

  3. In the Other Control Panel Options window, click the Java icon.
     
  4. In the Java Control Panel window, with the General tab selected, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings

  5. In the Temporary Files Settings window, in the Settings section, select Maximum, and adjust the quota amount as desired.
