Zscaler Frequently Asked Questions

Summary

Frequently asked questions for the Zscaler Client Connector application.

Body

The Zscaler Client Connector is an application that grants University users access to non public resources on the University of Wyoming network.

Zscaler is generally available to all campus users. However, the access granted through the Zscaler Client Connector is based on the role of user at the University. In practice this means that faculty will have access to different resources than students.

If you are using zscaler and you are unable to access resources you think you should have access to, please contact the help desk.

If your device is a UW Owned and managed device, instructions can be found here

If your device is a not managed, instructions can be found here

First verify that the Zscaler client is running and connected. You can do this by clicking on the zscaler icon in the windows system tray or the mac menu and selecting open zscaler. Verify that the service status shows ON

Once you verify you are connected, verify that you are using the fully qualified domain name(fqdn) of the resource you are trying to access. This means that you will need to use the full name of the resource (example: https://resource.uwyo.edu) when accessing on campus resources.

Some secure resources require your machine to be patched and up to date. Make sure you are running a supported operating system and up to date on security patches.

If you are still unable to connect contact the help desk
