iOS/iPadOS Client Enrollment for Intune and GLBA Compliance

Body

Prerequisites

  • Device running either iOS 14.0 or later or iPadOS 14.0 or later.
  • Apple ID to download apps from the Appstore.
  • Stable network connection.

Download Company Portal

  1. Open the Appstore on your device and login to an apple ID that can download apps.

  1. Click the search icon in the Appstore and search for “Intune company portal.”

  1. Click ‘GET’ on the Intune Company Portal app.

  1. Step through the next couple screens to install the app

Enroll in Intune

  1. Open the company portal and login with your UWYO credentials.

  1. The device will prompt you to allow notifications from the company portal app. You can allow or disallow to your preference.

 

  1. The next screen will prompt to set the device up, click the ‘Begin’ button.

  1. The next screen displays what information the university can and cannot see. Click ‘continue’ to proceed.

  1. The next page will start downloading the management profile. Press ‘allow’ to start the download.

  1. The app will notify you once the profile has been downloaded.

  1. Navigate to your Settings app and open it.

  1. In Settings click ‘Profile Downloaded’

  1. A display will appear that contains the profile information. Click ‘Install’ to install the profile.

  1. Click ‘Install’ on the popup window.

  1. A new window will display a warning for the Profile. Click ‘Install’ and then ‘Trust’ on the subsequent popup.

  1. A notice will be displayed once the profile has completed installing. Click ‘Done’ then navigate back to the Company portal.

  1. In the company portal app click ‘continue’ to proceed.

  1. The Device will automatically check in with the Intune server. Wait until the “Checking device settings” has a green checkmark next to it, then click ‘Done’.

 

Device Check in and Passcode set up

The device will periodically check in with the Intune Management server to ensure it is compliant with security policies. There is a brief period were the device has not fully checked in with the server and will state it is compliant without setting a passcode. It will take a couple check ins for the device to fully recognize if it is compliant, this can take up to an hour after initial enrollment. The process can be sped up by forcing a check in.

*Note.  If your device already has a 6 character password containing letters and numbers you can skip this section.

  1. In the company portal, click view devices.

  1. Select your device from the list of devices on the left-hand side then click ‘Check Status’ on the right-side list.

  1. If the app does not say “You need to update settings on this device”. Wait 5 minutes then repeat the two previous steps.

  1. Once the warning occurs, navigate to the home page and you will be prompted to set a passcode.

  1. Click ‘Change Now’ to set a passcode. The passcode must contain six or more letters and numbers.

  1. Once a passcode has been set navigate back to devices in company portal and click check status. The device should check in and the warning should no longer be present.
