With Remote Desktop, you can connect to your work computer from home and access all of your programs, files, and network resources as though you were actually sitting in front of your computer at work.
Before attempting this, be sure the computer you are about to remote into is properly set up to support remote desktop. Instructions on that can be found here. Also, instructions on how to install Ivanti Secure for Mac can be found here.
Note: Be sure the computer you are about to remote into is turned on.
Procedure
Download and install the Microsoft Windows App (Previously titled, "Microsoft Remote Desktop") from the Apple store.
- Launch the App Store,
Within the Apple App Store, you may be prompted for your Apple ID. Please note that Apple IDs are not maintained by the University of Wyoming and will likely have different login credentials.
- Search for: "Microsoft Windows". Select the option to download and install.


Launch the Windows App when the install completes.
1. To set up a new connection, click the New (or "+") button
Choose: Add PC
2. The PC name is your office computer's name or IP address.. You may add a Friendly name if that is helpful to identify the PC. Such as, "Office Computer", or a building and room number. Click Add when complete. You may also add your login credentials if you are comfortable doing so and if the connecting Mac is secure.

Your remote computer's connection will be added. Click to begin the connection session.

3. Enter your login for the University in the Credential Fields. Be sure to enter in your e-mail address as the username.

4. It will prompt you with a trust certificate, click Continue
Note: We use a Global Trust Certificate. There is no need to worry about the security of this connection.

5. You should now have a connection and control of your remote PC.
To disconnect, place your mouse in the extreme upper left corner of the screen to bring down the Windows App menu. Within the Window menu, choose Close. You may also opt to log off the computer before disconnecting.
