Install Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015 for Windows

NOTE: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user.

If you have not purchased an Adobe software license will not have access to install the software. These network locations are restricted to UW domain accounts. Adobe applications are fee-based, so access to the network location will not be granted until authorization of the payment is received by IT.

You will need to be on the UW network to install the software and then you can disconnect from the UW network and continue to use the software.


The University of Wyoming is a program member of the Adobe Open Options Contractual Licensing Program (CLP). As a member, UW is able to secure volume pricing on various Adobe products. This significantly reduces the costs incurred by UW departments and colleges. Further information on this program, product descriptions and pricing, the eligibility requirements, and the necessary steps for attaining a license to a specific Adobe product can be found on the UW Adobe CLP License Web page.

For ease of installation of some Adobe applications, Information Technology (IT) provides network installation points. These network locations are restricted to UW domain accounts.

Minimum System Requirements for Adobe Acrobat XI Pro

  • 1.3GHz or faster processor
  • Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3 for 32 bit or Service Pack 2 for 64 bit; Windows Server® 2003 R2 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit); Windows 8 (32 bit and 64 bit)
  • 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
  • 1.85GB of available hard-disk space
  • 1024x768 screen resolution
  • DVD-ROM drive
  • Internet Explorer 7, 8, 9, or 10; Firefox Extended Support Release; Chrome
  • Video hardware acceleration (optional)

Note: For 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows XP (with Service Pack 2), Microsoft Update KB930627 is required.


Before starting this procedure, it is recommended that all open documents have been saved and any open applications have been closed.

  1. Accessing the network installation point for Adobe Acrobat XI Pro
    1. Click the Start menu button, and click in the Search programs and files box.
    2. In the Search programs and files box (or the Run window), type \\\AdobeAcrobatProDC2015$ and press Enter.


      NOTE: Make sure that you have typed the correct slashes (i.e. \ and not /). 
    3. Double click on Acrobat_2015_Web_WWMUI.exe.


    4. When this window appears, be sure to click Run.


    5. In this window, do not change the Folder Location and then click Next.


    6. Once finished, go ahead and make sure to check the "Launch Adobe Acrobat", uncheck "Open the specified folder", and then click Finish.


    7. This will now open Adobe Acrobat DC. At this point, select "I have a serial number", and you will then need to enter your serial number. You can also check "Make Adobe Acrobat DC my default PDF viewer". From there you may click Install.

    8. Now the install will start.


    9. Once the setup is complete, you can click Finish.


    10. Once that is complete, a window will appear prompting you to sign in. If you already have an Adobe ID, feel free to simply sign in at this time. If you do not have an Adobe ID, click Get an Adobe ID.


    11. (This step is only for those needing to create and Adobe ID). Enter the information needed, using your first and last name, your University of Wyoming email address, however, we strongly recommend that for security purposes you enter a different password for the Adobe ID.
      1. Make sure to uncheck "Stay informed about Adobe products and services"


    12. If you are having trouble entering a password, the requirements are: 1. You password must contain both lower case and upper case letters. 2. Your password must contain at least 1 (one) symbol. 3. Your password must be at least 8 (eight) characters long.

  2. Accessing Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 
    1. To access Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, click the Windows Start button, All ProgramsAdobe Acrobat Pro DC or click the icon on your desktop.
    2. The first time accessing Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, an Adobe Software License Agreement window will appear. Click Accept.


    3. In the Welcome window, click Continue.

    4. You will now be asked to verify your email. Click Check Again and Continue.

    5. Next go to your email account and follow the link provided

    6. You are now able to open and use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
