Configure an Android mobile device to work with UW's email system

NOTE: UW IT recommends using Microsoft Outlook app for your UWYO email. The free app can be downloaded from the Play Store for Android. For directions please click here.

Different versions of the Android OS and hardware may vary slightly in setup.

Note: Most versions of Android OS do not allow the modification of the existing account. It is recommended that you delete your current email account and then set up a new account to access email.

  1. On your Android mobile device open the Email menu.

  2. Tap Corporate.

  3. Enter your UW email address and password

  4. For the Exchange server settings

    Email Address:

Domain\username:\ (if that does not work, try "")

    Exchange Server:

Make sure that the Use secure connection (SSL) is checked

  5. Click OK if you get a window asking you to allow to remotely control some security features of your device.

Note: The wording above may be different depending on the version of Android in use. Some versions may indicate that the phone can be controlled or even wiped remotely - we do not possess this capability at UWYO. This is the default language used during the setup of all Exchange accounts. This capability is intended for, and used by, organizations which provide both email and phone to the end user.

  6. Depending on your personal preferences, you can leave most selections in the Account options windows as their defaults. Tap Next.

  7. If prompted, you may give your account a name to easily recognize it. One easy option would be UW email.

Your device is now connected to your email account and will allow you to pull email and calendar information from the cloud.
