Install ArcGIS Pro version 2.6 from the UW Network

Note: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user.


The University of Wyoming provides the ArcGIS Pro software package free of charge for installation on UW owned computers for academic teaching and research use only. In order to install the software the computer must be connected to the UW Network. In order to run ArcGIS Pro you will need an ArcGIS Online account that is provisioned to access ArcGIS Pro. To install ArcGIS Pro from the UW network and obtain an ArcGIS Pro account, please submit the software request form.

Note: Granting software access is a manual process that is done during normal business hours. Once eligibility has been confirmed, you will receive an email providing details on finalizing the setup of your ArcGIS Online account and that your access to the software share has been granted.

Procedure to Install ArcGIS Pro

  1. Go to the Start button and in the search bar type: \\uwapps\ArcGISPro-2.6$

  1. Run the installer ArcGISP.msi file and follow the wizard. Click Next.

  1. Review the License Agreement and then click on the I Accept the license agreement radio button and then click Next.

  1. Select who you want to be able to run the software and click Next.

  1. If the features do not show the install icon, click the arrow and select the options to install features. Click Next.

  1. Select if you want to participate in the Esri User Experience program select the radio box and then click Install to begin the install process.

  1. The install will process and make take a while to complete. If presented with a User Account Control request, click Yes. When done you will receive a notice that the install was completed successfully, click Finish.…

  1. When you launch ArcGIS Pro for the first time you will be presented with a Sign In prompt. At this prompt enter the username and password that you had established by the IT HelpDesk when you originally requested access to ArcGIS Pro.

  1. Click on Settings and the bottom of the screen.

  1. Click on Licensing in the menu.

  1. At the bottom of the screen click on Configure your licensing options.

  1. This screen will then appear.  Under the License Type drop down menu select the Concurrent Use License option.


  1. The screen will then change to look like the one below.  In the License Manager field please input the UW server and click OK.

  1. The prompt below will appear and you will need to click OK.

  1. The software is now ready to use.  Upon relaunching ArcGIS Pro it should appear like this.
